about
Paola Pini is a registered licensed California Architect, member of the American Institute of Architects and LEED Accredited Professional.
Paola Pini has been working in architecture for more then 25 years. First in her home country of Switzerland under the guidance of renowned architect Aurelio Galfetti and then in Los Angeles following her Masters Degree in Architecture from the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL) in 2000, where she studied with renowned French and Spanish architects Patrick Berger and Campo Baeza.
Poala’s architecture has been greatly influenced by her early mentors but also by the southern California Modernism of the Case Study Projects and other contemporary California works inspired by indoor/outdoor modern Los Angeles Architecture.
Since her first introduction to architecture in 1990 Paola has had the privilege of working on a wide variety of project types and styles, from custom residential to high speed train master planning, from healthcare work to US embassies abroad with firms including Lee Burkhart Liu and Moore Ruble Yudell. But her passion has always remained for residential work.
Her architectural focus is modern with warmth and comfortable sensibility that is client centered. Function and light are central to her creative process while client needs, goals and budget are never second, and the sum of which mold the nuances of each space. Client and architect investigate the functional needs and aesthetic goals of each project with no preconceptions, each project emerges from the specific context and function resulting in distinction and innovative architecture but remaining practical.
Her architecture is modern and contemporary, clean lines and geometries at the center of her design. Modern architecture can sometimes be synonymous of cold and sterile. Deliberate material choices and arrangement of spaces add the warmth that much modern architecture lacks.
Buildings of all kinds have become more and more complex by client needs, technology integration and code requirements. Paola’s experience on large commercial and institutional projects is a huge asset to her residential work where she can combine her passion for personalize high-end design with her knowledge and coordination skills integrating the many trades now important to serving modern lifestyle homes.
